About Lucy Antwis

After graduating in 2004 from York St John University with a First Class Honors in Textiles I worked for an independent gallery. It was here that I trained as a craft worker. In the three years I worked there I went on to make bespoke light shades for Liberty and other galleries across the country.

From 2005 I also worked at York St John University. It was here that my love for textiles really flourished. I realised what I really wanted to do with my life. I craved more than ever to be a self employed designer, selling my own designs.

After completing the Princes Trust business enterprise program I received several awards enabling me to set up a studio as a textile artist. I now currently work in combination with my practice part time as the Art Technician at Bootham school where I also teach an after school activity in textiles.

I grew up in Robin Hoods Bay and regulary go back for inspiration but for now I work in my studio in York, selling on private commission, at craft fairs and in galleries all over the country.
